چکیده

Plastic waste is a solid that difficult to decompose but can turn into environmental microplastics. Microplastics are sizes between 0.1 μm–5 mm, highly prolific anthropogenic pollutants affecting terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. The purpose of this study was determine the ability Babylonia spirata accumulate eliminate polystyrene This experiment uses nuclear applications technique. consists two methods: manufacturing microplastics biokinetics. manufacture labeled Zn-65 based on reaction sulfonate with zinc form Zn resin. microplastic very stable in aquatic environment, so it used for bioaccumulation experiments. Biokinetics includes acclimatization/adaptation organism seven days, accumulating depuration days were placing water free contamination biokinetics calculations include BCF (Biocontration Factor), ku (uptake constant), ke (depuration constants), t1/2 (half-life). experimental results show bioaccumulate from seawater (BCF) 79.2 304.31 ml.g-1. affected by content water. biological half-life 14.54 41.78 d. There relationship concentration Ku, Ke BCF. content. they move through food chain ultimately harmful humans.

Study on bioaccumulation and histopathological effects of microplastic polystyrene on Goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Microplastics are known to be emerging contaminants and there are widespread concerns about their potential toxic effects. Histopathological study is one of the appropriate methods in diagnosing the effects of environmental pollutants on aquatics. In this study, the accumulation and adsorption of polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) in the gills of Goldfish were identified and its toxic effect...

Evaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics

Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria.  Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...

Synthesis and characterization of grafted polystyrene with acrylonitrile using gamma- irradiation Abstract Polystyrene grafted with acrylonitrile using gamma-irradiation technique

Polystyrene grafted with acrylonitrile using gamma-irradiation technique was successfully synthesized. This process was carried out at various gamma dose (0.2-1.5 Mrad). The new grafted polymer was characterized and its properties were investigated. The results indicate that best grafting percentage ratio could be revealed when the concentration of the catalyst Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (FAS) i...
